Madeline Drexler began her journalism career as a staff photographer for The Associated Press. Her images have appeared in numerous exhibitions and often accompany her published reportage.

During her 2012 reporting expedition to Bhutan, Madeline Drexler photographed people, landscapes, city scenes, traditional crafts and religious art. Her images appear on the cover and inside A Splendid Isolation: Lessons on Happiness from the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Madeline Drexler was awarded a 2012 Cambridge Arts Council grant for her exhibit Only the Seen: 36 Views from the BU Bridge, a year-long visual meditation on an iconic Boston landmark. Read about her solo exhibit at Gallery 263, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in March 2012. WBUR, Boston’s National Public Radio affiliate, aired a feature story about the exhibit.

Madeline Drexler also received a Watertown Cultural Council grant for her 2007 photography exhibit Passing Secrets: A Year on the River’s Edge, a visual essay about nature and abandoned industry along a short stretch of the Charles River (see below).
